This handwoven rug is crafted using wool yarns knotted onto cotton warp and weft threads. All yarns are spun manually using traditional tools like the kirman. The wool threads are dyed with natural root dyes. For instance, red tones are achieved by boiling wool with rose petals—resulting in vibrant, plant-dyed yarns.
Over time, these natural dyes develop an even richer sheen. The rug uses the Turkish knot (double knot) technique, making it more durable than its Persian counterparts. Approximately 250,000 hand-tied knots make up the body of this rug, which ensures a dense and high-quality weave.
