Product Details
This rug is handwoven with cotton warp and wool weft yarns, crafted entirely by hand using traditional kirman techniques. The wool yarns are dyed with natural root dyes, made from materials such as rose petals—resulting in vibrant colors that become more lustrous with use.
It features a high-quality Turkish knot (double knot) technique, making it more durable and longer-lasting compared to Persian rugs. Approximately 650,000 hand knots were used in the weaving process.

Weaving Method: Handwoven
History
Sultani rugs are an important part of the rich carpet weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire, originally produced in the 16th and 17th centuries for use in palaces and important locations. These rugs often feature floral, tree, geometric, and figurative motifs reflecting Ottoman cultural and artistic heritage. Today, Sultani rugs are made to complement both modern and classic furniture styles with their vibrant colors.
Care Instructions
Due to the natural root dyes and wool material, avoid using chemical shampoos or detergents. In case of spills, immediately blot the area with a paper towel, then gently clean with a damp cloth and white soap. Prompt action is essential to prevent stains from setting. For thorough cleaning, we recommend trusted professional handwoven rug cleaners. If you live in Istanbul, feel free to contact us for rug cleaning services.
