1 – RUG FEATURES
This handmade rug features wool knots on a cotton foundation, crafted entirely by hand using a traditional spindle (kirman). The wool yarns are dyed with vegetable dyes, derived from natural sources—such as rose petals for red tones. Rugs dyed with natural dyes develop a more vibrant and lustrous look over time.
This rug is hand-knotted using the Turkish (double) knot technique, known for its durability and long lifespan—often superior to Persian knots. Approximately 650,000 knots were used in its creation, making it a high-density, premium-quality piece.

2 – HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Sultani rugs are a reflection of the Ottoman Empire’s rich carpet-weaving tradition. Originating in the 16th–17th centuries, these rugs were often crafted for use in royal palaces and diplomatic residences. They feature motifs such as floral patterns, trees, geometric elements, and symbolic figures—each echoing the cultural and artistic values of the Ottoman era.
Today, Sultani rugs are still made with the same craftsmanship, blending beautifully with both modern and classical interiors.
3 – CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Due to its natural dyes and wool content, avoid using chemical cleaners or detergents. In case of spills, blot the area immediately with a paper towel, then gently clean with white soap foam and a soft cloth. Prompt action is key—delayed cleaning may cause stains to penetrate the fibers.
