This exquisite Sultani rug is handwoven using traditional techniques passed down for generations. The warp and weft are made of natural cotton, while the knots are tied with high-quality wool yarns spun by hand using a traditional kirman spindle.
The yarns are dyed using natural root dyes — for example, the deep red hue is achieved by boiling rose petals, allowing the wool to absorb the color organically. Unlike synthetic dyes, these natural tones become more vibrant over time, giving the rug a radiant and antique appearance with use.
This rug features approximately 650,000 individually hand-tied Turkish knots, using the double-knot (Ghiordes) technique. This makes it highly durable and long-lasting — even more so than many Persian counterparts.
